Zambia has made significant improvements in reducing mortality rates related to infectious diseases over the past decade. However, the country is experiencing a growing prevalence of noncommunicable diseases and the current health workforce shortages leave it unprepared to address this shifting burden. The Ministry of Health has developed an innovative human resources for health strategic plan to reshape the training and education of health workers in Zambia.

To support the government’s initiative, we collaborate with our in-country partners to enhance the development of frontline health workers who deliver care to patients at all stages of life, provide ongoing education across the health workforce, hold leadership positions, and advocate for policies that are conducive to these efforts.
